The monthly meeting of the ASPE Board of Directors (BOD) was called to order at Fiesta’s Mexican Restaurant, on March 18, 2009 @ _5:45__ pm.

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

February 18, 2009 Board-of-Directors meeting minutes were approved with corrections and are to be posted on the website

 

 

TREASURER’S REPORT – Ralph Spengeman, FCPE

  • Ralph presented his report for this month for our review. Glynnette Hale, CPE made a motion to approve as presented via email. Motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

 

 

TECHNICAL COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Certification: -- Joe Ledger, CPE

Joe Ledger, CPE has received JR Pike’s GEK and DST tests.  Joe and JR are to schedule a date for the exams.

 

Education: -- Skip Vernon, CPE

Larry Fletcher, E sent Roadrunner Chapter members a survey from the National Education Board that was sent to him today.  If you teach any classes or are a presenter for a seminar, please fill this out and return to Larry and he will compile a final version to be returned to our regional Governor.

Presentation:   “Building Technology into Estimates: Tech Features That Keep You Competitive.”

Objective: This presentation offers construction industry professionals critical information about new technologies in estimating.

Presentation:  Bonding – New Contract Wording and Clauses to Watch Out For”

Future Program Ideas:

Robert Mallory had a real cool idea to invite someone to do a presentation about the economic stimulus package. Everyone liked that idea. Can we see if this one is possible? Could we entertain the idea of bumping a presentation if this on becomes available sooner?

Industry Awareness: -- Bob McMartin, CPE

Larry Fletcher spoke on the upcoming NM ASA 2009 Construction Technology Fair.  ASPE will have a booth at the show.  It is being held at the Downtown Embassy Suites Hotel on Thursday, April 09, 2009 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.  A motion was made by Glynnette Hale, CPE to purchase a copy of ASPE’s SEP to be donated as our raffle gift for the show – motion was seconded and passed unanimously.  Ralph Spengeman will contact SBO and get SEP ordered

Website: -- Open

Larry Fletcher has asked if there would be any volunteers who would be willing to take over the maintenance of the website.  Larry feels the website is vital to the Chapters growth!

Host site renewal fees were paid for the next year by Larry and he was reimbursed by the Chapter

OTHER GENERAL BUSINESS

 

  • The NW/SW Regional meeting was held on March 6th, 7th, and 8th  in Las Vegas, NV.  Our Chapter had no representation at this meeting as we held our 2009 Estimating Academy on March 6th and our folks were busy with the Academy.
  • The Manual Lujan Insurance Agency chose not to renew our Chapter insurance policy this year.  Larry Fletcher contacted Mike Crispin with the Kinney Agency and a new police was purchased and is now in effect
  • Robert Mallory, AF is to look into an ASPE lecture series at UNM and/or CNM and possibly partnering this with AGC
