TECHNICAL COMMITTEE REPORTS

Certification: -- Joe Ledger

Glynnette who recently went to Regional in AZ, had an update that pertained to this subject. SBO National is working on their website to make it a much easier site to navigate.

Education: -- Skip Vernon

No activity/report

Standards: --Glynnette Hale

Glynnette volunteered to chair this committee at this months meeting. This lady is a human dynamo!

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

Awards: -- Ralph Spengeman

Ralph, made a spreadsheet to show all the awards that are available to us through ASPE National. Ralph included in this spreadsheet all the probable, possible, and not a chance for each one of these awards. Ralph then took it to the next level and even labeled which person within our chapter can directly affect weather or not we can actually obtain said award. We agreed at the meeting that this list should be disturbed chapter wide so we can all see this.

By-Laws: -- Kathy Meadows

Bob McMartin volunteered to update the “standing rules” as they are part of the bylaws. Bob will change our definition of what a quorum is as to avoid having to cancel a meeting like earlier this month. This will be presented to the general membership for discussion and ratification at a later date.

Finance: -- Ralph/Glynnette/Larry

See Treasurer’s report above.

Membership: -- Glynnette Hale

Larry proposed an idea to boost membership. Whoever in our chapter signs up the most new members for this year will have their next years Chapter membership paid by the chapter, this has a two person minimum to be eligible. Motion to pass this by Richard Cottrill, this was seconded by Glynnette, and then passed by unanimous vote.

Fliers have been developed for distribution to let the community know more about who we are and how we can be reached. Some of us at the meeting volunteered to distribute theses as follows.

Glynnette: Sammy, Albuquerque Reprographics

  • Pike: Dodge room, Construction Reporter, Academy Reprographics, Mesa Reprographics
  • Rich: AGC

Programs: -- Glynnette Hale

Glynnette fresh from regional also added: Our regional governor will be asking each chapter for a donation, this donation will be used to help start up more chapters for our region. She also brought up for future reference that whenever we set up a new scholarship fund we need to do it in such a way that National will match it up to $500.00

OTHER COMMITTEE REPORTS

Newsletter: -- Glynnette Hale & John Pike

Glynnette is currently committed to other ASPE matters that require more attention than the Newsletter can spare. John Pike did not pick up the ball and run with it. Ideas were discussed about shorting the “newsletter” to a “newspage”. Current progress as far as a name goes, Either S.I.L.O, or S.W.A.G was popular among attendees of the meeting.

Industry Awareness: -- Bob McMartin

Presentation materials were sent to Bob from National and were handed off to Robert in time for this weekends AIA Conference in Santa Fe. The booth went unmanned this weekend because of the lack of volunteers. Lets try harder for the CASS event in January.

Public Relations: -- Troy Dunow

Troy received the list of community calendar websites for advertising and is in the process of setting them up.

Historical: -- Kathy

A key was provided (not by Ralph!) for Rich to use in his effort to organize some of the data located in the storage shed.

Website: -- Open

Larry would also like to make an announcement at the November meeting to see if there would be any volunteers who would be willing to take over the maintenance of the website; Larry feels this is vital to the chapters growth!

Nominations: -- Open

No activity/report

OTHER GENERAL BUSINESS

As for our November 14, 2008 seminar for AGC we submitted our classes for Margo last week. We have not heard from her. Glynnette thinks this is to late and we should push this back so we have more time to advertise for this. Larry spoke with Margo Friday October 24, 2008. This venture is a go. She has been promising her members ad advertising for two months.

  • Check the ASPE website for details on this years upcoming national and regional convention. National conference will be held in St Louis and Regional will be held in Las Vegas.
  • Ralph and Kathy will attempt to put together a Christmas party for this year.
